Lacandon & Chicabal Volcanoes and Lagoon

27 January 2018 - 5:00 am | 28 January 2018 - 9:00 pm

viaje a los volcanes lacandon y chicabal guatemala

During this trip, we will reach the summit of two of the volcanoes from the Occidental area of the country. The first one is called LAcandon and is 2,748 msnm tall. It is home to a dense and humid subtropical forest. The ascent for this one will be just with a small backpack where we carry lunch, water and a sweater.

After a bit of resting and enjoying the views at the summit, we will descend toward the bus. It will take us to the base of Chicabal for an ascent with our full camping equipment.

This volcano has a lagoon, we will camp right next to it. This is sacred land for the modern Maya, there are often Mayan rituals happening around it. So out of respect, we won’t swim in it. Instead, the next morning we will go to the chicabal sumit before starting our way back to Guatemala City.

The flora in it consists of a cloud forest.
