The documentary Guatemala Corazón del Mundo Maya shows us the wonderful riches of nature and culture of Guatemala. When you watch it you get a tour of its jungles, forests, volcanoes, beaches, ancient Mayan cities, towns and above all people: the Guatemalan people.

The creators visited its major cities, Guatemala City, the current capital and the city of Antigua Guatemala as well as Pacific coasts where they know Monterrico Nature Reserve and the beaches of Puerto San Jose.

You can also see scenes from the ancient city of Takalik Abaj, a key location in the fabulous development of Mayan culture. Then you will join them as they walk along the Peten jungle in search of the legendary lost cities like Tikal.

Discover the secrets of Sierra de las Minas: the jade that the Mayas sought in the valley of the Motagua River and the mythical Quirigua, “the city of contrails,” one of the most important archaeological sites in America.

They even visited the colorful market of Chichicastenango and the beautiful valley of Semuc Champey with its fantastic rivers caves and forests where they had the chance to observe the great Quetzal national bird of Guatemala and then invoke the spirits of the ancestors on the sacred mountain of Rabinal.

As the documentary reaches its end you will see scenes of Quetzaltenango, Panajachel beside Lake Atitlan as well as the unique and different nearby towns. To end with this journey visit the city of Esquipulas, its basilica is one of the most important pilgrimage places in America and a short segment dedicated to the charming town of Livingston. Its welcoming people and the lush surroundings make it one of the most important tourist sites in Guatemala.
